Artist: Disciples

Disciples are Duvall, Luke and Gavin. This exciting trio broke through when their deep groove-led production, ‘They Don’t Know’, became an underground anthem and Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’. Championed by the likes of Tong, Annie Mac, MistaJam and DJ Target, Disciples initially earned a plethora of attention for their underground hit ‘Remedy’. Subsequently signed to the legendary FFRR label, they’ve built on their growing reputation with the singles ‘Catwalk’ , ‘Poison Arrow’ and hit ‘They Don’t Know’. They have expanded their sonic palette flirting across genres and in the process spin something fresh from their roots in House. The band shuns the usual route of producer + guest vocalist… to strike out on their own – every element of their tracks written, produced and sung by the band. “When people listened to our first EP, they didn’t know what to call it. They’d say, ‘You’re not electro, you’re not dance and it sounds kinda old, but it sounds kinda new.’ And it means that we can do what the hell we want,” affirms Duvall, whose obsession with songwriting and production was first inspired by watching his Dad work with the likes of Daddy Ernie during the early days of Choice FM. Part of their shared inspiration comes from the way in which their idols NERD and Daft Punk aren’t confined by genre. After making a major impact in the charts with their Calvin Harris collaboration ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ which went to #2 in the UK chart, South London dj/production trio Disciples continued their upward momentum with an exciting summer 2015 schedule which included joining the superstar DJ at two gargantuan 80,000 capacity Calvin Harris Presents Outside shows in Belfast and Glasgow. The record which has spent 7 months in the UK Top 40, has gone on to sell over 4million copies globally – proving to be Calvin’s biggest selling single in the UK to date. Not only that, but its landed the trio with 2 Brit Awards nominations for their efforts alongside Calvin Harris, including ‘Best British Single’ & ‘Best British Video’. Currently at work on their debut album the connection between the three young creative talents – is one in which each individual’s talents are the perfect foil for his bandmates’ core musical strengths. The result is collectively more powerful than the sum of its parts. Referred to as dance music’s most exciting triple threat, this team of producers, vocalists and DJs are more than just ‘ones to watch’ this year.
